The Angry Widow Is Finally Free to Live
In cooperation with the Helsinki City Theatre, I had the opportunity to attend the premiere of the play The Angry Widow on 10 October, ticket received. The premiere has its own electric, expectant atmosphere. A nice extra spice to the premiere was brought by people familiar from the pages of magazines, TV and movies, whom I spotted among the audience.
The play The Angry Widow is based on Minna Lindgren’s novel published in 2018. The book has been dramatised for the stage by Henna Piirto. I’ve read the book, so the plot of the play was familiar.
The Angry Widow at the Helsinki City Theatre
The angry widow is 74-year-old Ullis, who has finally been widowed. For years, he has lived a life that has just flown by like an express train. Years passed, a husband and children came, and a seemingly endless time on the edge of the sandbox. His professional life as a dentist had to wait. Life and years passed, her husband fell ill and, being a conscientious person, Ullis took care of her husband at home for 12 years. And now, finally… FREE life, your own life. The grown-up children have already planned their mother’s life, but what happened…
Where does the Angry Widow find new winds in her life?
The so-called peak years can lead to a situation where friendships and friendships are no longer maintained. When the children fly out of the nest and your spouse dies next to you, then you may be all alone. You have to gather courage, contact old friends and get to know new people. So does The Angry Widow, Ullis. She boldly joins in hot yoga and disco for older people. He notices that there is hope, he is no longer completely alone.
Welcome to your first own home
The best way to move forward in life and start your own life is to move into your own home. Ullis takes off, sells a piece of the row and leaves the past behind. This is where it begins, a grown-up woman’s new, own life!
Adult children do not understand that a 74-year-old mother is a virile woman hungry for life. The children consider their mother to be a deranged elderly person and are about to put their mother in an assisted living facility. Her mother has decided to finally start LIVING, to be the star of her own life. Who knows, even a new love is waiting right outside the window…
The Angry Widow is a good play. A story about how everyone should be selfish sometimes and think about their own best interests. If you don’t think about your own best interests, then who will. The play highlights the sexuality of older people. How can you now enjoy your sex life with a clear conscience, be as enthusiastic as a young person. The fact is that a human being is a sexual being from the moment of birth until death.
The music of the play hit me hard. It’s great to be The Best, especially when It’s raining men. Life should be Easy livin’ suitably accompanied by Dirlanda, until Good-looking, it’s just you.
When you want to come out of the theatre in a good mood and a relaxed mood, go see The Angry Widow, you can’t help but like the play.
Thank you Helsinki City Theatre for your cooperation!
