The ground is rocking under Silja, 56. To her great astonishment, one day she sees how she has lost her entire old life: her marriage to Niklas is over, the children have flown out of the nest and the shared home is also to be emptied. In the rubble of a life in which she has chosen to prioritize family and children, she tries to find a new direction. The situation is not made any better by the fact that Silja’s eternally young mother, Irma, at the same time decides to finally marry her lover Fred, who is 25 years younger. When Fred’s daughter Ca shows up and puts the previous generations against the wall, the ingredients for an unforgettable day are ready.

The Marriage Thing is a newly written drama comedy with a high recognition factor. It takes place over the course of a day at Irma’s summer cottage. In the warm and unbridled depiction, these five people try to sort out old betrayals, without creating new ones.
