Two work-averse millennials invest their unemployment benefits in meme stocks and cryptocurrencies on a whim. Half by accident, they will disrupt the entire world economy.

Ape army is a breathtaking satire about young lovers, Janica and Otto, whose dreams are different from the traditional. Or actually, they have no dreams at all. And there is no future for that either. They do not expect long careers or save for an owner-occupied home, but live in the moment and aim higher than given: on a rocket to the moon and from there to Mars.

After two days of investing in stocks, Janica and Otto realize that they are investment gurus. Together with a like-minded group of global investor nerds found online – the monkey army – they strike with insanity and unpredictability against the Western economic elite and big business.

Ape army carnivalizes millennial investors’ self-ironically light-hearted way of operating in the world, their desire to do things completely differently from previous generations, and their desire to dismantle the self-sufficient hegemony of investment capitalism.

The play also deals with a phenomenon called meme investing that shook the world’s stock markets, when a monkey army of millennial investors was close to toppling a giant investment bank in the United States.

The events of the play are more or less based on reality, but since it is a comedy, everything has been overdone. Ape Army plays with the aesthetics of millennials: excess, speed, irony.

And since everyone wants to get rich, of course, now there is an easy and cheap opportunity to do so: after watching this two-hour financial comedy, you are an investment genius! What does it matter about love, or anything, if you’re rich!
