The line between a little dishonesty and outright crime begins to blur when the spirit of rebellion takes hold and ordinary citizens take matters into their own hands…

Food prices have soared, and grocery shopping is driving families to the brink of bankruptcy. When a family’s income shrinks as the cost of filling the shopping trolley rises, tempers fray and frustration erupts into a household rebellion. This cannot go on! When fairness and justice are at stake, morality may have to give way. The line between a little dishonesty and outright crime begins to blur when the spirit of rebellion takes hold. And oppressed citizens have plenty of tricks up their sleeves when they take matters into their own hands… Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo’s Ei makseta, ei makseta! is one of his best-known and most popular works. A new translation brings this ingenious play and its riotously funny dialogue to present-day Finland – and Pasila certainly won’t be going hungry for comedy.
