Kultalampi
Huom! Poistunut ohjelmistosta!
Norman and Ethel have once again come to their villa in Kultalampi to spend the summer. Everything is almost the same as before, Norman is his own angry self, but his memory has begun to fail and his ability to enjoy life is weakening. Ethel runs her everyday life and tries to keep everything the same. Although their love is deep and they are each other’s best friends, Ethel feels unable to help her husband, who is confined indoors. Therefore, this 48th joint summer at Kultalampi is full of special wistfulness and a feeling of giving up.
The couple’s daughter arrives at Kultalampi with her boyfriend to celebrate Norman’s 80th birthday. Although there is friction between father and daughter, Norman and Ethel promise to take their daughter’s new husband’s 13-year-old son with them for the summer. Now the summer and Norman’s whole life take a new direction when they dig out their fishing gear and go to the lake together with their son.
Kultalampi is a wistful and touching depiction of family, a long relationship, facing and finally accepting inevitable change and all transience. When the past has been lived and the future does not offer wide perspectives, the cry of a black-throated loon in the lake landscape and the rare ability of two people to genuinely share joys and sorrows with each other is particularly significant.
The play premiered on Broadway in 1979 and was a huge success. Since then, the play has been performed around the world. Golden Pond was made into a film in 1981, starring Henry Fonda, Katharine Hepburn and Jane Fonda. The film became a classic loved by audiences. It received three Oscars and three Golden Globes, as well as a Bafta.
The performance rights are supervised by Teaterförlag Arvid Englind Ab.
