Let´s Play Business

Juha Jokela’s new comedy Let’s Play Business deals with the challenges of modern working life with a thrilling touch. It is an insightful, at times completely mindless comedy that surprises, makes you laugh and hits the time like a stick in a cardboard box – in other words, it leaves a mark.
The events of the story take place in a Finnish project consulting company called HX, whose authoritarian director, Raimo Hemming, has recently retired.
The HX personnel, who call themselves “hoks”, are trying to adapt to the time after the charismatic but highly controversial figurehead. Hemming’s allies, such as Hannu (Santeri Kinnunen), and the victims of his whims, such as Ressu (Sanna-June Hyde), are now forced to live in the same open-plan office reality.
Dealing with the scars left by the ex-boss is particularly ill-suited to the new CEO
Artturi’s (Martti Manninen) high-flying ideas for work culture, which seek creativity in business and, if necessary, refresh oneself by dancing.
Let’s Play Business deals with leadership, the longing for a strong leader and the meaningfulness of working life in a stylish and sophisticated satirical way.
Or it would, but…
… The story in question has been hired by some coincidence to be performed by a troupe of actors, whose artistic director (Wanda Dubiel) does not really play according to a mutually agreed rulebook. Their strengths do not include equality, self-knowledge, moderation or critical examination of one’s own actions.
The result is an uncontrollable chaos that runs alongside the company story, where roles change on the fly and backdrops fall, and which is above all the worst nightmare of the theatre’s financial manager (Jan-Christian Söderholm): “It looked cheap. There will be anything but. The mental cost is immeasurable.”
There will be hilarious dialogue, sharp contemporary analysis and hilarious situation comedy.
