little_star95 – ooksä online?
Note: No longer in repertoire!
little_star95 – ooksä online? is a nostalgia trip that invites audiences into a teenage girl’s bedroom for an evening online in the early 2000s. Moving between offline and online worlds, the performance asks what kinds of self-images and relationships the internet has created.
Teenage drama makes its way from school to the internet, MSN Messenger and IRC-Galleria. Who owns whom and what, who is online and who is simply out? The painful hierarchies between girls emerge on the computer screen with sensitivity and precision.
In August 2025, a creative team representing a new generation of theatre-makers takes audiences back to a time when you weren’t always online – you had to log on. Irc-galleria, MSN Messenger and demi.fi serve as both settings and source material for the performance. What did social media in the 2000s do to young people growing up at the time – especially girls and women? Log in to find out.
The performance was created during the summer residency of Nykyesityksen näyttämö. The platform brings a diverse range of contemporary performance to Helsinki City Theatre’s programme.
