There is a knock on the door and it is opened. Nora enters her old home. Fifteen years earlier, Nora had stepped out of this same door towards freedom, separation and her own life. Now he has a reason to come back.
A Doll’s House, Part 2 takes place 15 years after Nora Helmer left her family at the end of the play A Doll’s House. Nora has been successful as a writer, but she has also made enemies with her writings. Nora left to survive and be able to be herself. He has taken responsibility for his own freedom, for which he has paid a high price. When he returns, he has to face his past and the consequences of his own departure.
The Tony-nominated Doll’s House, Part 2, is an independent work and will be seen at the City Theatre as soon as it premiered on Broadway in 2017. In the play, the epoch of the early 1900s and modern language meet in a delicious way. The themes of the play, in addition to freedom and responsibility, equality and the difficulty of loving, touch everyone who has ever lived in a family or relationship.
