Out of Order
Huom! Poistunut ohjelmistosta!
Out of Order is a journey into a world of disappearing and reappearing images, which
is shaped through choreography, reflective surfaces and illusions.
The work is made up of fragmented scenes that are presented in disorder – as if
the pieces of the puzzle from a larger whole that is never fully understood.
The work invites the viewer to interpret a unique theatrical experience and put together
a performative puzzle according to one’s own liking.
The name Out of Order carries multi-layered meanings. It refers not only to something broken
to the past, including the non-linear structure of the work. Basically, a work
deals with memory, perception, and other imperfect ways in which we try to structure
into our lives. Flaws, small flaws and the parts of us that are out of place – those
are not deviations, but a basic condition for being alive.
Out of Order is a work by Brazilian choreographer Fernando Melo , and its set design is by Kalle Nio. Their previous joint work Tempo was seen in Almi Hall as part of the Helsinki Festival’s programme.

Out of Order is a journey into a world of disappearing and reappearing images through choreography, reflections and illusions.
The work is presented in a nonlinear way, constructed from fragmented scenes presented out of sequence – like pieces of a puzzle from a larger whole that never fully comes into view. The viewer is invited to interpret what they see, and piece together their own, unique picture.
The name Out of Order refers not only to the nonlinear storytelling, but also to things that are broken. At its core, the piece deals with memory, perception and other fallible ways in which we try to make sense of our lives. Flaws, imperfections and the pieces of us that are out of place – they’re not exceptions, but rather a fundamental condition of being alive.
Out of Order is the work of Brazilian choreographer Fernando Melo with set design by Kalle Nio. The pair’s previous collaboration, Tempo, was seen as part of the Helsinki Festival programme.
