Jarkko Mandelin’s new work Silence pushes his signature movement-focused choreography – combining contemporary dance, acrobatics and techniques from various martial arts – further than ever before.

“Silence is a dance performance inspired by the performance of classical music. The dancers form an orchestra in the classical tradition and do everything in their power to bring each movement of the concerto to life. Silence is the moment when a movement ends, the world it created disappears and preparations for the next one begin.”

Jarkko Mandelin is a contemporary dance choreographer with a background in classical ballet and an internationally active instructor. He has developed a distinctive style of his own and is particularly renowned for his work in contemporary dance partnering and floorwork. Mandelin is the founder and artistic director of the dance company Kinetic Orchestra. His previous work, Gravity, was exceptionally presented in the theatre’s programme for two seasons, in 2021 and 2023, playing to sold-out audiences.
