Laura: Isn’t it wonderful that you’re not a man?

Corky: So it’s really relieving. I wouldn’t be able to stand all those privileges.

 

Corky and Norm are just an ordinary middle-aged couple with a comfortable home and a well-developed relationship. When a spectacular meteor shower has been predicted for the evening, a new acquaintance, Gerald and Laura, have been invited to admire it.

The dinner guests are good-looking, exciting and in every way more interesting than the host couple, or at least that’s what the hostess of the evening, Corky, fears. But Laura and Gerald are extremely entertaining guests. Or is there something strange about them?

Steve Martin, known as an actor and stand-up legend, combines surreal twists and twisted humor with this setting familiar from sitcoms. During the evening, all familiar assumptions must be forgotten when meteors begin to fly and the human mind undergoes strange changes.

When both the writer and the director (Mika Eirtovaara) have a stand-up background, you can expect a lot from the comedy! Starburst is a fast-paced, absurd and at the same time intelligent comedy that offers laughter and anarchic energy – and also a brilliant mirror for one’s own relationship.
