A touching story about the attempt of Taju, the daughter of the great visual artist, Tyko Sallinen, to finally tell the truth about her father.
The play tells the story of the painful process of the birth of Tyko Sallinen’s daughter Taju (1912-1966), the last work FATHER AND ME. The great Tyko Sallinen dies and Taju decides to write himself off from his lifelong relationship with his father. She believes that she will be freed from childhood anxiety by finally telling the truth about her father – how he treated her mother, took her sister to Denmark as a foster child without asking her mother, about her mother’s mysterious death and how her father abandoned Taju when her childhood ended. But the father does not let up, he rises from beyond the grave, mocks and subjugates Taju and drives him back to his dreary childhood memories, accompanying him all the way to Hitler’s collapsing empire, to the ruins of love. The musical world of Taju consists of theatrical music created by Eero Ojanen and wartime German schlaagers.
