A play full of life and a humorous spirit connected to historical events in a way that only Jari Tervo can do.
The Troika tells the story of Mannerheim’s train journey to Tampere at the Civil Guard Festival at Easter 1920. He is accompanied by Master of Laws Ellen Kataja, who has news to tell: the General is about to be murdered in Tampere. Elegant and independent, Ellen makes an indelible impression on the charming Mannerheim, and a romance develops during the train journey. Eljas Rossi, a Red Commander from Tampere, has been given the task of murdering Mannerheim. But what will happen to the mission when Rossi has made a sacred promise to his mother that he will never kill anyone? The play is based on author Jari Tervo’s novel Troikka (2008), which breathed life and a sympathetic-humorous spirit into historical events in a way that only Tervo can do. Now, these hilarious twists and turns and human characters with their moral reflections come to life on the stage of Pasila.
