Performed on the small stage of the Helsinki City Theatre, the three plays born from different origins together create an evening that touches, laughs and surprises.
The views of three authors – Sofi Oksanen, Elina Snicker and Maija Vilkkumaa – on the world right now and in the future are surprising and fresh in their topicality.
The idea for a set of three plays originated when Sofi Oksanen’s play I Love You Already Now premiered at the Burg Theatre in Vienna in 2017 together with four other plays by European women writers.
SOFI OKSANEN’s play I LOVE YOU ALREADY NOW tells the story of a Finnish Marja who is hoping for a child and a Ukrainian surrogate mother Daria. Cast: Vappu Nalbantoglu and Aurora Manninen.
ELINA SNICKER’S play CRYING FOR A STRANGER tells the story of a woman in the service of the army, a lieutenant, and how meeting a stranger
can create a surprising connection between people. Cast: Kaisa Torkkel, Aurora Manninen, Riitta Havukainen.
MAIJA VILKKUMAA’S PLAY Sea Weather shows the Helsinki of the future, where Henna and Matilda have created a mermaid-themed rowing boat company that transports
city dwellers to Tähtitorninmäki when the water has taken over Southern Helsinki. Cast: Vappu Nalbantoglu, Merja Larivaara, Kaisa Torkkel.
Rights supervised by: Elina Snicker – Agency North, Maija Vilkkumaa – author herself, Sofi Oksanen – Silberfeldt Oy
