Spotlight Northeast is a joint project of the Helsinki City Theatre, Zodiak Centre for New Dance, North Helsinki Band School and Teatteri Tuike, which aims to increase the arts and cultural offering in the districts of Tapulikaupunki, Suutarila, Siltamäki, Puistola and Tapanila in 2019-2021.

At the heart of the activities is interaction between the residents of the area and artists. The creators invite all residents of the area to participate in the art activities, not only as spectators but also as active actors themselves. Together and separately, the artists will work in residential environments close to the residents’ everyday lives.

The project is part of the Helsinki City Theatre’s audience outreach and is led by theatre expression directors Janne Puustinen, Martta Pesonen and audience worker Jenny Jumppanen. In the spotlight, Northeast is one of the City of Helsinki’s Helsinki model projects.
