Lavastus muistuttaa eleganttia, vanhanaikaista olohuonetta.

Lavalla on kolme vintage-asuihin pukeutunutta näyttelijää: kukkamekkoon pukeutunut nainen ja kaksi takkiin ja hattuihin pukeutunutta miestä seisovat yhdessä hymyillen ja keskustellen art deco -tyylistä taustaa vasten, jossa on kuviollinen tapetti.

Kuusi tyylikkäisiin vintage-asuihin pukeutunutta aikuista istuu ja seisoo sohvan ympärillä ja kohottaa lasit maljan kohotukseksi. Edessä istuu kolme naista, joista toisella on kehystetty valokuva kädessään, ja heidän takanaan seisoo kolme virka-asuihin pukeutunutta miestä.

Kolme muodollisiin pukuihin pukeutunutta miestä käy dramaattista keskustelua. Yksi mies viittoo kädellään toisen rinnalle, kun taas kolmas näyttää yllättyneeltä. He seisovat tyylikkäässä huoneessa, jossa on kuviollinen tapetti.

Neljä vintage-asuihin pukeutunutta näyttelijää istuu vihreällä sohvalla. Yksi pitää kädessään juomaa, toinen esittelee puulaatikkoa, ja muut hymyilevät ja nojaavat sisäänpäin, mikä viittaa vilkkaaseen, humoristiseen keskusteluun teatteriympäristössä.

Kuusi vintage-asuihin pukeutunutta aikuista on kokoontunut olohuoneeseen.

The comedy Newlyweds amuses with the hypocrisy of the British middle class The English writer J.B. Priestley was quite a prolific writer. In addition to his books, his output included more than fifty plays, some of which regularly return to the repertoire of English theatres. The Helsinki City Theatre selected Priestley’s When We Are Married (1937) for its programme this autumn. The comedy of the play is based on the class differences between the English about a hundred years ago. Perhaps its text, message and irony were better understood then. Today, Newlyweds is still funny in places, but it is not the farce it was apparently intended to be. Of course, the customs of the time would have had elements of farce, but they do not necessarily bother modern people much. In theory, it was possible for anyone to enter the middle class: the criteria were not outside the group, but within it. That is why much attention was paid to good outward manners. The unit of bourgeois purity was the family. The home began to become more private in relation to the rest of society. The wife took care of the home, while the husband earned a living for his family without sparing himself. Both roles were considered important; The wife was assisted at home by servants who took care of cleanliness and participated in raising the children. Only the man moved outside, so he had contacts with the outside world. Attitudes towards gender became an important area that shocked Victorian morality. The home and family did not allow sexual promiscuity because it was a threat to the unity of the family and its very existence. On this basis, Priestley searches for the elements of a farce for the play Newlyweds. Three small-town merchant couples are celebrating their silver wedding anniversary together. The memories return to the golden youth and the atmosphere is light. Let’s get nostalgic and reminisce about the wedding 25 years ago. A photographer has been invited to capture a great anniversary. What could ruin the festive atmosphere? The photographer arrives. Drunk! Then a woman arrives who has been on very close terms with a few gentlemen celebrating their wedding anniversary. Finally, a big surprise arrives. These three upstart couples, who cherish their façade and tirelessly polish their façade for fear of the slightest scandal, are told that they are celebrating in vain. They haven’t been married for a quarter of a century. They haven’t been married at all! There is a formal error in the marriage papers! The decency of families is therefore at risk. The upset of families and the amazing action it brings on stage contains all the seeds of laughter. All is not lost yet. Director Mikko Kivinen has got his hands on a highly skilled acting team that makes the audience, if not completely burst out laughing, feel comfortable in the audience. Is it a stroke of luck or the worst nightmare that after 25 years of marriage, you suddenly return to the singles market? At least you have to reconsider slips such as: “If I wasn’t married, then…”In the comedy Newlyweds, the ultimate purpose of a relationship is confused by Risto Kaskilahti, Sari Mällinen, Jari Pehkonen, Leena Uotila, Jouko Klemettilä and Tiia Louste. The other roles are played by Antti Litja, Matti Olavi Ranin, Pia Runnakko, Sanna Saarijärvi, Lotta Vaattovaara, Sara Welling and Joachim Wigelius.

Through the 1920s from this time – hersyen From the beginning, it felt like Mikko Kivinen was on stage. However, Kivinen only climbed onto the stage after the curtain had fallen, when the actors returned to pop for the second time. Kivinen had “only” directed a performance of Newlyweds for the Helsinki City Theatre. The newlyweds were so Mikko Kivinen, so Mikko Kivinen. The text was, of course, by the writer of the play, but the way it was performed – the gestures, the facial expressions – was Kivinen himself. Of course, it’s worth considering whether such a strong director’s “mark” is a good thing. It didn’t bother me, quite the opposite. Newlyweds is such a comedy that I don’t wonder at all why the theatre had hired Mikko Kivinen to be responsible for bringing it to the stage for the umpteenth time. If such a comedy had to be dug out of naphthalene, it was entrusted to the right hands. On the big stage, we returned to the 1920s, to the aristocratic and gentlemanly atmosphere of the English. The intention was to celebrate the silver wedding anniversaries of three couples at the same time. However, nothing goes as planned. The story is multi-generational. There’s no point in revealing more about the plot here. Of course, one may wonder why such a comedy from the beginning of the century should be included in the programme. There are more recent ones, as I understand it. This can be done because it is one way to tell your point. One habit among others – and just as useful. Which was proven. For: Hypocrisy, intolerance, double standards, contempt for others are unfortunately not the property of any age. It’s just that the phenomena take on a different appearance today than they did almost a century ago. When we laughed at J. B. Priestley’s couples from the 1920s, we laughed at features that have certainly not disappeared. Whether we admit it or not, they are just as well today. We can also say that the second feature of human nature that the author also expresses is just as well a timeless phenomenon. Priestley’s intention was hardly to act as a moral preacher, but the truths that he has given to the representatives of the “lower class” in the play are also valid in any time. We could remember the best of things and each other. That’s an example of that thinking. An actor often gets a stamp on his forehead. Risto Kaskillahti has one as a brilliant comedian, so it is clear that he excels in this play as well. What is more surprising, however, is that Sari Mällinen , who plays his wife, is so excellent that the place steals the whole show at times. A woman can get so nervous, as well as move so chicken-like. Antti Litja – he can’t do anything but shine, especially in the role of a drunkard.

Hyvä !!!!

Kiitos hauskasta illasta! Sari Mällinen oli loistava. Nautittavaa teatteria, jossa ote ei herpaantunut hetkeksikään. Esityksen lopussa olin pettynyt: Nytkö se jo loppui. Olisin katsonut toiset kaksi tuntia! Tämän voisin katsoa toiseen kertaan. T. Seija

Wau kun oli hauskaa! Hienot roolisuoritukset, hyvä rytmitys ja hauskat vitsit=HILLITÖN KOMEDIA! Pidin erityisesti Risto Kaskilahden huisin hauskasta roolista. Kiitos!

Kerrassaan mainio, juuri senlaatuista komediaa mitä teatteriin mennessäni odotan! Huikeita näyttelijäsuorituksia; Leena Uotila ehdottomasti yksi parhaista.

Komediaa parhaimmillaan! Tämä on yksi niistä esityksistä jonka toivoisi kaikkien näkevät. Nauroimme vedet silmissä, ja teatterin taika lumosi meidät täysin - ja marraskuinen kaamos unohtui Vastanaideiden todella lunastaessa lupauksensa hillittömästä komediasta.
Kiitos Näyttelijät, kiitos!!
t. Tikahtunut toinen rivi 28.11.
