Principles of a safer space at the Helsinki City Theatre
Objectives
Our goal is to build a safe, respectful and open atmosphere where everyone feels genuinely welcome. At the same time, we promote more equal, non-discriminatory and accessible theatre – for all of us.
Together, we are committed to the following principles:
We intervene: We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, harassment, bullying or other inappropriate behaviour in the theatre’s premises and events. Everyone has a responsibility to intervene in such situations immediately.
We respect: We respect everyone’s personal space, integrity, and right to self-determination.
We listen and encourage: We listen to and respect each other’s opinions and encourage open and constructive interaction. We create a positive atmosphere around us.
We don’t assume: We treat everyone equally. We avoid assumptions based on external characteristics, speech or actions. The diversity and individuality of people is an asset to us.
We enjoy the magic of theatre: We all have an equal right to create and experience theatre experiences in a safe environment.
