Backstage

What is normally visible to the audience through the theatre stage is only a fraction of the work that is done inside the walls of the theatre. Take a peek behind the scenes of the theatre in the Backstage section of the website and get to know the work of hundreds of theatre professionals through videos and articles!

Helsinki City Theatre is the largest theatre in Finland, employing about 240 passionate theatre professionals, from actors to carpenters and from ticket sellers to costume designers. In addition, there are about 100 temporary staff.

We also wanted the audience to be able to take a peek behind the scenes of the theatre and get to know the work of these hundreds of professionals. That’s why we opened the doors to Backstage, where you can get to know the work and creators of the set designer, costume designer and art designers, for example, through videos and articles.

Introducing theatre through drama
