A Bottle of Cava and Sunshine, starring gorgeous women, tells a warm and insightful story of friendship

A warm and insightful comedy drama about adult women’s friendship and dreams, A Bottle of Cava and the Sun, will premiere on 12 September on the Arena stage of the Helsinki City Theatre.

The play, written by Helena Anttonen, is directed by Milko Lehto and stars top actresses, Heidi Herala, Maija Lang/Sanna-June Hyde, Jaana Saarinen, Aino Seppo and Eija Vilpas, as well as Sauli Suonpää in two male roles.

A Bottle of Cava and the Sun tells the story of Inka, Vonne, Anita and Tuuli, who are united by their hobby of painting, the life situation of a sixty-year-old single woman and their travels together. This time, the destination of the trip is the Algarve in Portugal and an old ceramics factory found there, which has been converted into a studio apartment, which Inka has already practically sold without telling others and is now proposing it as a bohemian retirement home for friends. These women have sisterhood, energy and a sense of humour, but what will happen to the dream of a retirement home, the rules of the game, savings and family relationships of the harmonious quartet of friends?

The set design of the play A Bottle of Cava and Sun was designed by Katariina Kirjavainen and the costumes by Sanna Levo. The lighting designer is Kari Leppälä and the sound designer is Lauri Koivisto. The camouflage and hairstyles are designed by Jaana Nykänen.
