Changing apartments and relationship twists and turns on Pengerkatu
The Helsinki City Theatre brings to the Pengerkatu stage the successful play by the German director Moritz Rinke , Let’s Love Without Knowing Anything (Wir lieben und wissen nichts, 2012). The play, which depicts today’s human relationships, phenomena and people in a poignant and sharply apt way, is directed by Arn-Henrik Blomqvist. The witty comedy performed by Laura Alajääski, Jouko Klemettilä, Ursula Salo and Ville Tiihonen will have its Finnish premiere on February 16 on the Pengerkatu stage.
The new comedy Love Without Knowing Anything brings together two couples who are unknown to each other. They swap apartments – and juicers – with no idea of the consequences of this seemingly convenient practical arrangement. When couples collide with each other’s everyday lives, it’s only a matter of time before their relationships get into handsome twists and turns.
“Many couples don’t seem to be able to cope with their children and can’t tolerate imbalances if one spouse isn’t as successful as the other, and so on. To outsiders, it must all seem strange: people have everything, and yet they only have problems,” says author Moritz Rinke.
Writer Moritz Rinke (b. 1967) is known for his novels as well as his successful plays, many of which have also been made into films. Rinke, who has also worked as a journalist, is today one of Germany’s most significant playwrights. Wir lieben und wissen nichts (2012) has had more than 50 stage adaptations. The Finnish version of the film at the Helsinki City Theatre, translated into Finnish by Liisa Urpelainen , is the Finnish premiere.
The set and costumes for the play Let’s Love Without Knowing Anything were designed by Alisha Davidow. The lighting design is by Mika Ijäs and the sound design by Mauri Siirala. The camouflage and hairstyles were designed by Tuula Kuittinen.
