GÄSTSPEL PÅ LILLA TEATERN / GUEST PERFORMANCE AT LILLA TEATERN

Digitaalisessa kollaasissa on päällekkäisiä verkkoselaimen ikkunoita, joissa kussakin näkyy osa ihmisen kasvoista, joissa on erilaisia ihonvärisävyjä, silmiä ja hiuksia, ja jotka muodostavat yhdistetyn muotokuvan neutraalien värilohkojen taustalla.

35 ME AND SOME ACTORS

A Nordic production by Blaue Frau & Stefan Åkesson from Poste Restante

From the working group’s memorandum: “As a consequence of so-called ‘private individuals” increased use of so-called ‘social media’, it is the working group’s recommendation that ‘private individuals’ receive training in the use of ‘social media'”.

In the autumn of 2016, Blaue Frau launched an open call to actresses throughout the Nordic region for the show “35 Me and Some Actors“. The task was to describe an occasion where the professional self was mixed, collided or displaced with the private self. We received 139 responses from all over the Nordic region, 139 stories about the dilemmas that arise between the public and the private. Of those who applied, 5 actresses were selected to be part of creating an interactive experience about how we all wrestle with the question of who we are and who we are seen as. A question that becomes tangible in the daily flow of social media.

The internet can be likened to a theatre where we all act and look at each other. In “35 Me and Some Actors”, the physical theatre space is filled with specially adapted interactive stations, where the audience is guided in how they can construct and rehearse their internet persona and what social codes can be used to make the internet a feminist utopia. A girl’s room that is characterized by sisterhood and support. “35 Me and some actors” is an artistic attempt to formulate an alternative to the sexist culture that is now e.g. exposed in the roar of anger #metoo.

“35 Me and Some Actors” is a playful, interactive performance that seriously wants to explore the psychological and ethical dilemmas and the political potential that exist in the digital public sphere, where everyone has the opportunity to portray their own subject.

After the premiere at Lilla Teatern, the performance will tour the Nordic countries in 2018-2019. The tour goes to Akureyri (MAk, www.mak.is), Reykjavík (Tjarnarbió, tjarnarbio.is), Stockholm (Moment:teater, moment.org.se), Malmö (Inkonst, inkonst.com).

The working group consists of:

Sonja Ahlfors (Blaue Frau/FIN), Lidia Bäck (FIN), Bergdís Júlía Jóhannsdóttir (IS), Sepideh Khodarahmi (SE), Nina Matthis (SE), Klara Wenner Tångring (SE), Joanna Wingren (Blaue Frau/FIN), Stefan Åkesson (Poste Restante/SE).

35 ME AND SOME ACTORS

Together with Stefan Åkesson (Poste Restante, Sweden), Blaue Frau presents their new Nordic production.

From the working group’s memorandum: As a result of the increased use of “social media” by “private individuals”, the working group recommends that “private individuals” receive training in the use of “social media”.

In the autumn of 2016, the theatre group Blaue Frau started an open call in the Nordic countries to find creators for their play 35 Jag och några akarare”. In the application, the task was to describe how the actor’s professional self mixes or collides with the private self, and how the private self is possibly shaped through the actor’s profession. Blaue Frau received 139 responses, that is, 139 descriptions of the dilemma that arises from the mixing of the public and private selves in the work of an actor. As a result of the call, five actors were selected to make an interactive performance about the phenomenon. We all encounter the same problem as individuals when we think about who we are and how we look on the outside. The question has become even more important in this day and age, as social media is taking up more and more space in our everyday lives.

The Internet resembles a theater where we all act, observing each other. In the play “35 I and some actors”, the physical theatre is filled with special interactive points where the audience can practice building and repeating their online persona. In addition, the public receives guidance on the use of social codes on the internet. The aim of the working group is to help the participants of the work to take up space in the digital world. By taking space, the Internet can become a so-called “Land Centre”. A feminist utopia, a girls’ room filled with solidarity and support. “35 Jag och några akarare” is an artistic effort to create an alternative to sexist culture, which has been revealed by the #metoo campaign, among other things.

The presentation is in Swedish, but it is also possible to participate in English.

After the premiere, the performance will tour the Nordic countries during the 2018-2019 seasons. The tour will tour e.g. In Akureyri (MAk, www.mak.is), Reykjavík (Tjarnarbio, tjarnarbio.is), Stockholm (Moment:teater, moment.org.se) and Malmö (Inkonst, inkonst.com).
