Helsinki City Theatre’s spring season guest performances bring improvisation and stand-up comedy to the stage

Minttu and Ville

Minttu In Mustakallio’s and Ville Virtanen’s improvisational performance, the actors come up with various sketches, stories, poems, song numbers, speeches and play scenes on topics given to the audience. Minttu and Ville act out all the characters and songs of the evening without planning in advance, using different improvisation techniques.

Minttu and Ville performances will be seen at Studio Pasila from 2 February. In addition to Minttu Mustakallio and Ville Virtanen, the stage will feature top musician Samuli Laiho, who will compose songs of different genres at the time of the performance.

Stella Polaris – Free Fall and PRIMA VISTA

Improvisational theatre Stella Polaris will visit the small stage with its performances Free Fall and PRIMA VISTA from 9 February. The stage will feature the skilled performers of Stella Polaris.

Stella Polaris’ classic, Free Fall, is a play in which nothing has been agreed in advance. The actors, musician and lighting designer improvised everything based on suggestions received from the audience.

PRIMA VISTA is an improvised musical that is created in front of the audience’s eyes. Every night, the performers of Stella Polaris create a new musical that has never been seen before before, full of funny characters, amazing dance numbers, and songs and stories.

Mika Eirtovaara – Human

Stand-up stage virtuoso Mika Eirtovaara’s stand-up show Ihminen will be seen at Studio Pasila on 10 February. Man invites you to a thrilling journey of exploration into yourself, your fellow friends and, above all, Mika’s wonderful world.

The performance is prohibited for persons under the age of 18.

Nour el Refai – telling jokes for about 75 minutes

On 9 March, Swedish comedy star Nour El Refai will bring his Swedish-language stand-up show, Nour El Refai – säger skämt i ca 75 minutes, to Lilla Teatern. El Refai has toured around Sweden with its performance and received praise from audiences and critics alike.

The performance is in Swedish and it is prohibited for children under 15 years of age.

Ali Jahangiri – A New Beginning 

Ali Jahangiri will visit studio Pasila on 12 April. Uusi Alku is her latest all-night stand-up performance, the central theme of which is change and starting something new. The show features hilarious stories about Ali’s hardships during the pandemic, starting a career as a retailer, and the joy that a new beginning can bring to life.

The performance is prohibited for persons under the age of 18.
