Program

11.00 – 12.45 We present the premieres of the autumn season 2019 and theatre professionals from different departments. The artists will be there to talk and be interviewed. The presentation is also free of charge for the public.

  • The Little Mermaid musical will be presented on the big stage three times at 11.15 – 11.25, 11.45 – 11.55 and 12.20 – 12.40, the last of which is aimed especially at the media. Director Samuel Harjanne will talk about the performance and we will show excerpts from the Disney musical that will premiere on 29 August. Cast: Sonja Pajunoja (Ariel), Martti Manninen (Erik), Tero Koponen (Sebastian), Sanna Saarijärvi (Ursula), Mikko Vihma (King Triton), Paavo Kääriäinen (Kiero), Antti Timonen (Liero), Tuukka Leppänen (Scoot), Tuomas Uusitalo (Chef Louis) and Matti Olavi Ranin (Yrjö). The role of Ariel’s fishing friend Pärsky is alternated by Valo Eklund, Lenni Kallela, Alek Perez-Lahtinen and Samuel Vihma.
  • Open rehearsals of the Game Trail at 11.00 – 12.30 on the small stage. Director Lauri Maijala and his team are rehearsing a family tragedy that will premiere on 4 September. Cast: Pekka Huotari, Risto Kaskilahti, Paavo Kinnunen, Ella Mettänen and Ursula Salo. The audience is free to come and go.
  • Senior yoga K-55, scene from the play The Angry Widow in the balcony foyer of the main stage at 11.15 and 11.45, between the scenes the working group can be met at the stand. The scene features Riitta Havukainen, Eija Vilpas, Kirsi Karlenius, Kaisa Torkkel, Marjut Toivanen, Leena Rapola, Sari Haapamäki and Vesa Wallgren. Actress Heidi Herala, director and dramatist Susanna Airaksinen, author Rosa Liksom, scenographer Vilma Mattila and sound designer Johanna Puuperä will be present.
  • The premieres of The Arena Stage, A Perfect Saturday (5.9.2019) and The Man Who Loved Order (3.10.2019), will be presented in the foyer of the main stage. Actor Pekka Strang and director Jaakko Saariluoma from the former will be present, and actor Taneli Mäkelä and director Marcus Groth from the latter.
  • Threesome comedy team rehearses the scene in the foyer of the main stage. Actors Elina Hietala, Jarkko Niemi and Olli Rahkonen and director Liisa Mustonen will be present. Premiere in Studio Pasila 12.9.2019.
  • Producer Saija-Reetta Kotirinta and Project Director Riikka Kannas will talk about the musical theatre cooperation between ShedHelsinki and HKT. Young people participating in the project will also be present.
  • Lilla Teatern’s premieres, Äktenskapsgrejen (11.9.2019) and Sufflören (17.10.2019) will be presented at a joint stand in the balcony foyer of the main stage. Actors Jonna JärnefeltCarl-Kristian Rundman, Laila Björkstam, Oksana Lommi and Joachim Wigelius will be present.
  • Stella Polaris improvises!Sari Siikander and Micke Rejström make improv attacks on the stage of the balcony foyer of the big stage. Premiere at Lilla Teatern 5.10.2019.
  • Behind-the-scenes theatre professionals from costume design, set design, make-up, audience work, and lighting, sound and stage technology will showcase their diverse expertise in the marble lobby of the main stage.

 

12.45-13.30 Joint media conference for all autumn premieres in the balcony foyer of the main stage, where it is possible to interview and photograph the artists. The event will be opened by theatre director Kari Arffman.
