Keijukaisneuvos Koo, who delighted the audience, returns to Stoa

Helsinki Dance Company’s enchanting dance adventure for the whole family, Fairy Counsellor Koo , will receive 11 additional performances at Stoa in January and February at the request of the audience.

Jyrki Karttunen’s Fairy Counsellor Koo is a fun dance adventure for the whole family, in which the top expert in his field, the good-natured but absent-minded Fairy Counsellor Koo (Karttunen) has taken it upon himself to protect and organize the activities of the fairy forest’s weekdays so that the days would repeat in the same order and Sunday would always be followed by Monday. However, the viewer soon realizes that the fairy counsellor himself is constantly dependent on the protection of spirit beings and the advice and help of the audience.

“I have been inspired by Chaplin’s films, their everyday fantasy, benevolence and humanity. The taciturn nature of spirit beings is also reminiscent of silent films,” says Karttunen.

In addition to fairytale-like beautiful scenes, there will also be slapstick and farce, as well as more delicious weekday characters. The performance includes Monday (Pietari Kärki), who suffers from start-up apathy, a tennis match between Thursday (Eero Vesterinen) and Friday (Heidi Naakka), and captivating dancing with the stars. In addition to the above , Johanna Elovaara, Jyrki Kasper, Aksinja Lommi and Mikko Paloniemi perform in the work, which praises the magic of theatre.

The music for the enchanting fairy forest is composed by Tuomas Fränti. The set and light design were designed by William Iles. The costumes for the forest dwellers were designed by Karoliina Koiso-Kanttila and the make-up design was done by Milja Mensonen.

Keijukaisneuvos Koo, suitable for everyone over the age of 5, premiered at the Helsinki City Theatre’s studio Elsa on 9 October 2014.
