“Life focuses to the side, and so do I” Sinikka Nopola
The memorial ceremony for writer Sinikka Nopola (1953–2021) will take place on 1 April at the Helsinki City Theatre’s Arena stage. One evening brings together Nopola’s beloved texts, songs and poems.
“Sinikka could write a novel, a play, a film script, a children’s book, poems and song lyrics at the same time. We also wanted to bring this idea to a ‘rather clever’ evening, where Sinikka’s perceptive humour and literary art lovers can gather together to enjoy her life’s work,” says the author’s sister and work partner Tiina Nopola.
The Arena Stage was opened to the Helsinki City Theatre in 2010 with Sinikka Nopola’s play Eila, Rampe and Cherished Happiness, and three years later, Eila, Rampe and the Salt Beard was also seen on the same stage. In both of them, the role of Eila was played by the phenomenal Nopola interpreter Heidi Herala, who will perform at the memorial ceremony.
Heidi Herala, Vuokko Hovatta, Jarmo Julkunen, Päivi Kantola, Paavo Kerosuo, Lotta Kuusisto, Seppo Maijala, Tiina Nopola, Iiro Rantala and Reetta Ristimäki will perform at the event.
