Lilla Teatern begins its performance year with the comedy Fly me to the moon, which premieres on 13 September. The play is about the two hard-working home care workers Lilja and Fia, who both dream of a better life. One of their clients is an old man who loves Frank Sinatra and who usually plays on horses. But one day he stays in the bathroom for an unusually long time and the women begin to think about what will happen to the man’s pension money…

Fly Me to the Moon is the award-winning Northern Irish playwright Marie Jones ‘ (including Stones in the Pocket, 1996) latest comedy and it is newly translated and adapted by director Joakim Groth, the man behind the hit Retro (2017) at Lillan. Now he is back with a warm and constantly topical comedy.

“In Fly Me to the Moon , a chain of events is depicted where the issues are ultimately moral. Where is the line between poverty and honesty, between self-interest and traditional values? Why should the common man follow the voice of morality when the rich and powerful in society do not seem to do so?”, says director Joakim Groth.

On stage, we will see actors Pia Runnakko and Linda Zilliacus. The performance is subtitled in Swedish and Finnish.

The warm and topical Irish comedy Fly Me to the Moon opens the year of performances at Lilla Teatern on 13 September. The play tells the story of two home nurses, Lilja and Fia, who work hard and dream of a better life. One of their customers is an old man who loves Frank Sinatra and trotting. One day, the man stays in the bathroom for an unusually long time, and the women start to think about what should and could happen to his pension money…

Fly Me to the Moon is the latest comedy by award-winning Northern Irish playwright Marie Jones (1996). The play has been retranslated and adapted by director Joakim Groth, whose play Retro was a success at Lilla Teatern in 2017.

– Fly Me to the Moon tells the story of a chain of events that is ultimately a matter of morality. Where is the line between poverty and truth, self-interest and traditional values? Why should ordinary people listen to the voice of morality when the rich and powerful in society do not seem to do so?”, says director Joakim Groth.

Actors Pia Runnakko and Linda Zilliacus will be seen on stage. The play is performed in Swedish, but it is subtitled in Finnish.
