The staff of the Helsinki City Theatre are joining forces and organising a support event for Ukraine on the big stage on 24 April. The proceeds of the Sunday for Ukraine event, which combines music, poetry and dance, will be directed in full to Ukraine through UNICEF’s emergency grant fund.
“We want to make a warm and beautiful event. There are wonderful choir performances, our fantastic dance group Helsinki Dance Company, amazing heart-melting performers. It is terribly touching how people from different departments of our theatre have contacted us and wanted to participate. Everyone’s hands and hearts are needed to create an unforgettable occasion. I hope that everyone will have a warm experience of sharing together on both sides of the ramp,” says actress Heidi Herala, who kicked off the event.
“It’s great that so many people have done their part for Ukraine by participating in various fundraisers and events. I sincerely hope that we will not become numb to the everyday news, as the need for help will last for a long time and that’s why we wanted to organize this event,” Heidi Herala continues.
The performers at the Sunday for Ukraine support concert include the company’s own artists and artists visiting the productions, such as Lumi Aunio, Riitta Havukainen, Heidi Herala, Vuokko Hovatta, Jouko Klemettilä, Robert Kock, Tuukka Leppänen, Martti Manninen, Kari Mattila, Lauri Mikkola, Emilia Nyman, Sanna Saarijärvi, Esko Salminen, Ursula Salo, Aino Seppo and Eija Vilpas.
