The long-awaited premiere of The Magnificent Your, Margot on the big stage of the Helsinki City Theatre

Neljä ihmistä seisoo vierekkäin keltaisen taustan edessä. Heillä on rennot, kerroksittaiset vaatteet ja neutraalit tai vakavat ilmeet kasvot eteenpäin. Taustalla on hienovaraisia, kuvioituja raitoja.

Based on Meri Valkama’s sensational, award-winning debut novel (2021), Sin, Margot will premiere on HKT’s big stage on 6 February. The play is an intense story about what happens when thingsstart to break. The work isdramatised by Tuomas Timonen and directed by Riikka Oksanen. The cast includes Satu Tuuli Karhu, Sara S oulié, Martin Bahne and S anna-June Hyde.

Vilja Siltanen’s (Satu Tuuli Karhu) father Markus (Martin Bahne) has just died. In his apartment, a bundle of letters from a woman named Margot (Sara Soulié) is found. Vilja’s mother (Sanna-June Hyde) refuses to say anything about the letters, so Vilja has to travel to Berlin to find out who the letters are from. Vilja grew up in the GDR, where her father worked as a foreign correspondent in the early 1980s. The family considered East Germany to be the ideal state. Then the Berlin Wall came down and the family’s happiness was shattered. Why? And who exactly is the Margot of the letters?“The characters in the play are reflections of all of us, complex and fallible people. They are sincerely idealistic, stubborn, sensitive, fragile, full of passions and conflicts. They build meanings into their lives; not linearly, but through intersecting choices and fragmented experiences. Yours, Margot is both visually stunning and intellectually and emotionally touching. On stage, we will see a stunningly skilled ensemble that brings the book’s multidimensional characters to life. This performance is a must-see for anyone who loves high-quality and multi-layered drama,” says director Riikka Oksanen. Yours, Margot expands from the story of an individual and a family into a grand suspense play that examines an entire era. The gripping drama manages to reflect on topical questions in an exceptional way: Can remembering the past help us understand the present? For the first time, the play brings Jussi Award-winning Satu Tuuli Karhu and Sara Soulié, known from film and television, to the HKT stage. In addition, Martin Bahne, who has made an impression in several films, and the wonderful Sanna-June Hyde will be seen on stage. In addition to them, the cast includes Helena Haaranen, Vuokko Hovatta, Risto Kaskilahti, Tuukka Leppänen, Lasse Lipponen, Sanna Majuri, Samuli Pajunen, Emma Pälsynaho and Raili Raitala.  The play is directed by Riikka Oksanen and dramatized by Tuomas Timonen.
