Stage and programme
The Arena Stage’s greatest asset is its ideal size. The auditorium seats around 500 people, and as a former cinema, it is perfectly suited to intimate, atmospheric theatre.
Since autumn 2010, the Arena Stage has hosted Helsinki City Theatre’s lively and entertaining productions. Its programme has included comedies and musicals, mysteries and stand-up, premieres of new Finnish works and music-filled concert evenings.
The Arena Stage is located in the Arena building, designed by Lars Sonck and one of Helsinki’s best-known landmarks. Together with Ympyrätalo and Hakaniemi Market Hall, the building forms a distinctive historic ensemble on the edge of Hakaniemi Market Square.
