My Brilliant Friend is the growth story of two talented but very different girls, Lenù and Lila. It is a story of their extraordinary friendship, and their shared desire to get out of the war-torn childhood block. The play is about their rebellion against the narrow roles that the community and society try to force them into.  It’s a story about how badly we need a great friend by our side who makes us think more freely and dare more! It follows Lenù and Lila’s journey from the early 1950s to the 2010s through the social upheavals in Italy.

The performance is based on Elena Ferrante’s novels from the Naples series, My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, and The Story of the Lost Child.

The performance will be subtitled in Finnish and Swedish via the Subtitle Mobile mobile application. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play under the name Subtitle Mobile. During the screening, you can follow the subtitles on your own phone after downloading the app. Each presentation has its own code that is entered into the application before the presentation.
