Fretti Mercury etsii onnea is a lively musical about friendship and the search for happiness.

Best friends Fretti Mercury and Jänis Virtanen think they have lost their happiness, so they set out to find it. Along the way, their journey turns into a thrilling adventure as they encounter all kinds of creatures, each happy in their own way.

Could Jon Bon Ovi’s wisdom help them find happiness? Or perhaps Hiiri Äitee Rantanen’s can-do spirit, Tessu Redford’s resilient cool, Pöllö Miljoona’s rebelliousness, Naula Vesala’s perfect sharpness or Karitsa Mattila’s beautiful singing voice?

And will the friends be brave enough to make their way through the frightening, dark Tunneli
Jäätteenmäestä in search of happiness? Seiti Etsivä, the world’s greatest private detective, finally emerges from his freezer to help the friends on their quest.

The musical’s wonderfully inventive music is composed by Marzi Nyman with lyrics by Mariska. The music has something to offer audiences of all ages, while the script brims with Miika Nousiainen’s distinctive and playful use of language.

But is happiness something we carry within us all along, or is it something that can be put on display on a bookshelf?

The production is based on the 2020 children’s book of the same name by Miika Nousiainen and Sanna-Mari Pirkola.
