The villa town is an idyllic residential area, a community of well-to-do people. It’s a small town where everyone knows each other. Or at least each other’s facades.

The harmony of the villa town is shattered at once when four boys from a well-off family commit a shocking act of violence at a house party. The panicked community wants to forget the tragedy as quickly as possible. No matter how horrible the act is, the harmony of the community is more important.

But Gusten’s memories do not leave him alone. He feels forever tied to the people of the small town. How can life go on if you have been guilty of something so terrible? How does the tragedy that has happened bind the people of Villa Town to each other, and can you really jump over terrible things?

Monika Fagerholm’s award-winning novel Who Killed Bambi? is a hypnotic tapestry, brutal and lyrically beautiful at the same time. The novel was dramatised by Pipsa Lonka, a leading name in Finnish playwriting.
