In Status Quo , we follow three different stories, all of which are about a young man at the beginning of his career: one is a real estate agent, another is a pharmacy intern and the third is an actor. All three are called Mikael Malmberg. Mikael is an ordinary guy.

Everywhere he is met with the same pattern: discrimination, manipulation and sexual advances. At home, Mikael takes care of the household and tries to be a good partner, but in a society where women decide, every Mikael is nothing more than a Mike.

Maja Zade’s play wittily depicts how familiar roles and worlds become absurd when gender roles are turned upside down.

The performance is artistic director Jakob Höglund’s farewell direction for Lilla Teatern.
