Katja Küttner and Martti Suosalo as the stars of the new comedy The Security Guard

Kaksi pukuihin pukeutunutta näyttelijää esiintyy näyttämöllä dramaattisesti; toinen puristaa rintaansa yllättyneenä ja toinen tarttuu käsivarteensa, molempien kasvot ovat ilmeikkäät, ja taustalla on vihreät verhot.

Written and directed by Pasi Lampela, the new comedy The Security Guard depicts the collision of two people representing different worlds. Can opposites find each other, is confrontation needed at all? The sitcom, which premieres on the Arena stage on 7 October, will be interpreted by the amazing acting duo Martti Suosalo and Katja Küttner.

In Pasi Lampela’s comedy novel, Antti Granqvist (Martti Suosalo), the raucous son of a wealthy industrial family, is preparing for the date of his life when Mirka Ahonen (Katja Küttner), a security guard hired by his father, unexpectedly arrives and forbids him to leave. The family has been blackmailed, and Antti’s life is also in danger. What kind of challenges arise when a hedonist in love with his freedom and a professional security expert have to spend time within four walls? The physical distance is short, while the mental distance is light years.

“It’s fun to get to do this kind of juggling between two actors, where a good sense of rhythm and making twists are important. It’s wonderful to act with Manu because he’s so skilled, and it’s real flow at its best,” says Katja Küttner , referring to her co-star Martti Suosalo.

The security guard is carnivalesque in its genre. In this genre, it is important that there is a mutual play between the actors, Katja Küttner is the kind of comedian with whom anything is possible. It’s wonderful to learn from younger colleagues Katja and Pasi Lampela at this age,” says Martti Suosalo.

“The scourge of our time is the definition of everything through simplistic, artificial, and deliberate misunderstandings. In The Security Guard , this situation is dismantled by means of comedy and shown that people really need it,” says writer and director Pasi Lampela.

“The premiere planned for the spring season of 2021 was postponed, and in April, we performed the preview live stream through the Quarantine Theatre. It’s absolutely fantastic that we can finally get the play to premiere for a live audience,” Lampela rejoices.
