The Little Mermaid opens the performance season at the City Theatre after the coronavirus break

Elävä näyttämökohtaus musikaalista, jossa on näyttelijöitä värikkäissä vedenalaisissa puvuissa, mukaan lukien merenneito keskellä näyttämöä, ja jota ympäröivät mereneläviksi ja kasveiksi pukeutuneet tanssijat, jotka kaikki esiintyvät energisesti dramaattisessa valaistuksessa.

Helsinki City Theatre will open its doors to the public with a performance of The Little Mermaid from 8 August. The theatre has invested in customer safety and is limiting the size of the auditorium to half for performances in the autumn season.

“We are happy to be able to meet the theatre audience again and start the performance season even in record time. We have worked and continue to work hard to ensure that the audience can come to the City Theatre with a safe mind and enjoy the performances. The website Safely to the Theatre contains up-to-date and updated instructions for safe theatre visits,” says Theatre Director Kari Arffman.

“For the time being, we will limit the size of the audience to half in the autumn season performances on all our stages. This means that there will be a maximum of 480 spectators in the grandstand on the main stage. This allows us to place the audience in the stands with safe distances. We are monitoring the situation, updating the instructions and refining our practices based on the experience we have gained, customer feedback and instructions from the authorities,” Arffman continues.

In addition to safe distances, the City Theatre invests in hygiene. Hand sanitizer is available at several points in the foyer, and the cleaning of public spaces has been intensified. In connection with performances, all employees of the lobby service wear a visor or a face mask, and the theatre recommends the use of face masks for customers as well.

“However, this is a recommendation, we do not require our customers to wear a mask or supervise it,” Kari Arffman specifies.

To avoid queuing, the serving points will not be in use during the exceptional times. Refreshments during the intermission or before the performance must be ordered in advance.

The theatre is also flexible when it comes to ticket changes. If a customer suspects a coronavirus infection or has been exposed to an infection, they can exchange their ticket for an upcoming performance free of charge even on the day of the performance.
