När Baba faller i poolen är kl. 23.47
There are moments when the ground suddenly gives way beneath your feet. When everything that once seemed certain—work, daily routines and your role in your family and society—can no longer support you.
När Baba faller i poolen är kl. 23.47 begins at precisely that moment.
A daughter tries to understand what has happened to Baba, her father. A man who worked so hard to find his place in a new country. Force majeure, they wrote.
Experience became a burden; age, an obstacle.
Shame drives him to keep it a secret from his family.
Baba stepped into a world where he did not belong. He found himself at a pool party hosted by society’s elite. To the guests, he was part of the party scenery—amusing content to share on Instagram. To Baba, it was an attempt to save his family. Instead, he became an image that could never be erased.
As she tries to understand what happened, the daughter begins to remember. Her childhood. Her relationship with her father. Her roots.
The small and momentous events that have shaped their life together.
När Baba faller i poolen är kl. 23.47 portrays a changing world of work and a society in which more and more people are falling through the cracks, where human dignity is at risk of being lost as security disappears.
Written by Astrid Menasanch Tobieson, the play explores identity, belonging and shame.
