Pre-show party and theatre performance

Pre-show activities and theatre performance packages for student groups

Kaksi teatteripukuista ihmistä poseeraa dramaattisesti kirkkaan keltaista taustaa vasten. Toisella on nahkatakki ja raidalliset housut, ja hänellä on kädessään maissimaisemainen valtikka; toinen, riekaleisiin vaatteisiin pukeutunut, nojaa taaksepäin ja osoittaa innoissaan.

Explore the production through hands-on activities! Helsinki City Theatre offers packages combining a pre-show activity and a theatre performance for groups from comprehensive schools, general upper secondary schools and vocational institutions, based on productions in the current programme.

Theatre workshop for school groups

Primary schools, lower secondary schools, general upper secondary schools, vocational institutions

Ryhmä ihmisiä seisoo lavalla tiiviissä piirissä kädet toistensa hartioiden ympärillä, sinisen ja violetin näyttämövalaistuksen alla, kasvot sisäänpäin.

Welcome to explore theatre-making with your class or group!

Costume workshop

Workshop for pupils in grades 5–9, general upper secondary schools and vocational institutions

Rivi värikkäitä vintage-mekkoja roikkuu tiiviisti yhdessä telineessä, ja niissä on erilaisia kankaita ja kuvioita, kuten pitsiä, röyhelöitä ja höyheniä sinisen, vihreän, keltaisen, vaaleanpunaisen ja kerman sävyissä.

How is a character brought to life? Come and explore the costume design process, discover treasures from the theatre’s costume collection, and design and assemble a costume of your own!

Learning materials

Materials for educational use

Free teacher resources for preschool and all levels of education.

Punatukkainen merenneidoksi pukeutunut nainen pitelee haarukkaa ja istuu kalliolla; hänen vieressään on keltaiseen ja siniseen pukuun pukeutunut lapsi, jotka molemmat näyttävät olevan teatteriesityksessä.

Here you will find a range of materials designed for educational use. They are suitable both for classroom teaching and as support for remote learning.

Backstage

A glimpse behind the scenes at the theatre

Suuri näyttämö katsomosta katsottuna kultainen esirippu laskettuna

What audiences usually see on stage is only a fraction of the work that goes on behind the theatre’s walls. Take a peek behind the scenes in the Backstage section of our website, where videos and articles introduce you to the work of hundreds of theatre professionals!

Behind the scenes

Backstage tours for school groups

Nykyaikaisen teatterin sisätila, jossa on punaiset pehmustetut istuimet, valaistut portaat ja näkymä näyttämölle vasemmalla. Lämmin valaistus korostaa tyylikästä, nykyaikaista arkkitehtuuria ja tilavaa istumajärjestystä.

Helsinki City Theatre offers guided theatre tours for groups. The backstage tour takes you behind the scenes to explore the stage, workshops and everything the audience never gets to see.
