Camouflage

There are 10 people working on the disguise of the City Theatre. Camouflage is part of the visual design of performances: the actor is disguised as a character. There are make-up artists and hairdressers in the camouflage.Many professionals do both. The actors are disguised before the performance and the work continues during the performance if the actors’ characters change or the mask or hairstyle needs make-up. In addition to masks and hairstyles, a wide range of loose parts are made in camouflage, such as noses, ears, moustaches and wigs. In the video above, make-up artist Jutta Kainulainen and actor Jari Pehkonen tell what kind of special relationship is created between the make-up artist and the actor when they sit in a mask day after day.
