HKT’s costume department employs about 20 employees: seamstresses, tailors, milliners, dressers and costume attendants. The costume department designs, manufactures and maintains costumes. The costumers take care of the costumes at the performances and help the actors behind the stage. Every year, the costume department manufactures or modifies about 1000 accessories for theatre productions. The theatre also has a large costume warehouse with tens of thousands of theatre clothes, the oldest surviving from the early days of the theatre.
