The City Theatre is finally fully open to the public!

Ryhmä esiintyjiä, joilla on värikkäät puvut ja käpyhatut, tanssii energisesti lavalla, jossa on valkoisia kuutioita ja hehkuvia pyöreitä valoja, sinisen ja violetin värisessä valaistuksessa. Jotkut ovat kesken hypyn, toiset poseeraavat dynaamisesti.

Helsinki City Theatre will open more tickets for sale after the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland lifted the restrictions on public events from 1 October. The theatre is happy about the opportunity to finally continue the autumn performance activities properly with the audience.

“We are really relieved and happy that the audience restrictions that plague the theatre industry are finally being lifted. We will be able to welcome the audience to the theatre on all five of our stages and open more seats for sale for sold-out performances, such as Bolla. We have a very versatile and great autumn programme, which we will now finally be able to perform to a larger audience,” says theatre director Kari Arffman.

The Helsinki City Theatre will have 11 premieres and a total of 20 performances in the autumn of 2021.

On the big stage, we will see the new musical As It Is in Heaven, which highlights the power of community, and the fast-paced musical play Tatu and Patu for the whole family in Helsinki.

On the Arena stage, the audience will be able to watch the Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in the comedy The Hound of the Baskervilles and, from 7 October, the new comedy The Security Guard, starring Martti Suosalo and Katja Küttner.

On the small stage, Bolla, directed by Milja Sarkola, has been described as the theatre event of the autumn, and Children will premiere on 30 September, performed by three veteran actors, Jukka-Pekka Palo, Jaana Saarinen and Aino Seppo. The autumn dance piece, Gravity, which combines Jarkko Mandelin’s contemporary dance techniques, acrobatics and martial arts, will premiere on 11 November. To the repertoire will also return the audience’s favourites, The Colonel, starring Heidi Herala, and the foyer performance Twelve Gifts to Santa Claus, aimed at the youngest members of the family.

Studio Pasila will present a new Finnish comedy based on the transformation of working life, Paahtimo, and in December, the Shed theatre group’s musical play Saiturin joulu will premiere. The stand-up club Club act!one and the record-breaking all-time favourite Kivi taskussa will also continue in Studio Pasila.

Lilla Teatern’s programme will continue to feature Anna Takanen’s touching Sörjen som blev until 25 September, and from 2 October, Paavo Westerberg’s stage adaptation of the award-winning novel Den besynnerliga eventn med hunden om natten. In addition, the musical Once, directed by Jakob Höglund, will continue in the programme.

In addition to HKT’s own productions, HKT’s Arena stage will feature interesting guest performances during the autumn: Saikkua, kiitos! PART 3, Stella Polaris’ TULPPA IRTI – Improv’s mega farce, the award-winning mentalist’s visit Pete Poskiparta – Mentalist 3.0 and Love Letters starring Seela Sella and Esko Roine.
